Product Description LitterMaid Self Cleaning Litter box eliminates most odors while keeping the litter box clean for your cat. It's an inventive design: as your cat exits the LitterMaid Self Cleaning Litter box a sensor is triggered which sets a 10 minute timer. After 10 minutes the cleaning cycle starts and the rake scoops out the waste clumps putting them into a waste receptacle that automatically reseals itself. If the cat re-enters and leaves the litter box before the initial 10 minutes have elapsed, the timer will automatically reset and delay the beginning of the cleaning cycle for an additional 10 minutes. Not only will your cat love the LitterMaid¿ Self-Cleaning Litter Box, but you also will love how easy it is to keep your house smelling fresh and clean. The LitterMaid Self Cleaning Litter box comes with an AC adapter that can be plugged into your outlet. The litterbox will also run on 8 D cell batteries (recommended for back up use only).

we own two!! February 6, 2002 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
we bought two Littermaids over two years ago and they are still working great and we don't buy premium scoopable litter. We are down to 5 cats now, but at the time we purchased these we had several more. Right now we have one upstairs and one down. This is one of the greatest inventions ever. Before we got these we had 7 cat pans around the house, upstairs and down.. What an improvement!!!
If odor is a concern, this baby is WORTH EVERY PENNY! July 31, 2002 qmsterling (Minneapolis, MN) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I have to admit the thought of dropping [$$] on a LITTER BOX was a scary prospect! But, as I am sharing my one-bedroom apartment with two kitties, I was desperate for a solution to the inevitable odor problem. As I work full-time outside the home, it seems the box is never as fresh as I'd like, and there is no place to "hide" it - like a lot of homeowners who keep the litter box in the basement, or some such out-of-the-way location. One day after setting up our new LitterMaid, I was completely sold! All embarrassing odors were gone! I am happy to use my little hand-vac to clean up the kicked-out litter every few days in exchange for an apartment that no longer smells like a litter box. Also, some reviewers have brought up the issue of cat litter: buy the best-quality clumping litter you can. The system uses so little of it compared to traditional boxes that it's a wise investment towards a smooth-running system. All-in-all, it's my opinion that the legitimate drawbacks (litter mess, noise, container cost, sticky clumps, etc.) are a small price to pay for a house that isn't stinky!
WHAT A GREAT INVENTION !!! June 7, 2002 Toni Mathews (USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I love this cat box... No more cleaning everyday... 1 - 2 times per week now boy this is GREAT... And what fun my kitty has with it... she does her thing, then waits, and waits, and waits.. for 10 mins watching lolol ( if she gets bored she leaves ) but when it goes off to clean the box.. she runs really fast to see where her stuff is going lolol its toooo funny ... This was a great gift for my kitty and me.. We are both extreamly happy with it.. everything was there in the box that we needed to get it started ( not the litter though ) lol the LitterMaid works great and I highly recommend it. Mind you though this one is for a 1 cat family.. They do have bigger ones for more than 1 cat.. Oh and by the way another helpful thing is guess what.. I'M BUYING LESS LITTER! So this is saving me time and money, how can you go wrong.. : )
Would not live without this product! May 1, 2003 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I've had my Littermaid for the past three years and I love it. I've had no problems with the appliance - but it does have the following requirements: 1 - The refuse bin has to be cleaned once a week for 1 cat; every 3-4 days for 2 cats. 2 - Tidy Cat clumbing litter works better than any other brand with this product. One thing that I think makes a big difference is that I only feed my cats premium cat food which does two things - reduces the smell associated with a litter box and it reduces the size of the cat "output".
Quality of Life April 18, 2002 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I thought the price was originally pretty steep but after using the litterbox for 2 1/2 years, it was well worth the price. It has improved the quality of life of not only my cat but of me. Yes, the litterbox can jam but that tends to be when I overfill the box. Yes, the litterbox can be noisy but we have resolved that issue by turning the box off at night. This litterbox gets rid of the odor associated with litterboxes. It also has cut down on my litter bills. One box of litter now goes a long way.
